Installation & login

The Pyvolt CLI manages and observes your servers and apps from the terminal - app creation, env vars, logs, processes, deploys, SSH and metrics. It talks to the same backend as the dashboard, so everything it does is visible there too.

Setup starts in the dashboard: signing up, connecting GitHub (a one-time browser step) and provisioning a server. From there the CLI covers the rest, including creating apps with pyvolt apps create (see the command reference). Deployments always ship the latest commit from your app's GitHub branch - the CLI never pushes local code - so a git push is the usual way to deploy (see Push to deploy).

Install

uv tool install pyvolt-cli

(or pipx install pyvolt-cli). The installed command is pyvolt.

Log in

pyvolt login

This opens your browser to an authorization page - check the code shown matches your terminal, click Authorize, and the CLI picks up its token automatically. No password ever touches the terminal.

The token is stored in ~/.config/pyvolt/credentials.toml (mode 600).

Managing tokens

Every CLI login appears under Account → API in the dashboard, named after the machine that requested it. Revoke a token there at any time - the next CLI call on that machine will ask you to log in again.

pyvolt logout removes the local token file; revoking in the dashboard is what actually invalidates it.
